The Yellow Emperor asked Qi Bo: “I wish to hear about the transporting sites of the five zang that emerge on the back.”
Qi Bo said: “The great transporting site of the chest lies at the end of the pillar bone. The Lung transporting site is at the third back interval; the Heart site at the fifth; the Diaphragm site at the seventh; the Liver site at the ninth; the Spleen site at the eleventh; and the Kidney site at the fourteenth. All flank the spine, about three cun apart. To locate and verify them, press the place: if there is a response within and pain releases, it is the transporting site.
“Moxibustion is permitted, needling is not. Drain abundant qi and supplement emptiness. In supplementing with fire, do not blow on it; wait for it to go out of itself. In draining with fire, blow on it swiftly and attend to or pass along the moxa, waiting for the fire to go out.”
The source repeatedly writes jiao in the numbered back intervals; these are not silently converted into modern vertebral or point codes. Its final moxa-transfer phrase is compressed and is not expanded into an additional procedure.
