Wind illness should cause failure of movement in half the body. If only an arm fails, this is impediment. A faint, rapid pulse indicates wind-strike as the cause.
A floating, tight cunkou pulse: tightness means cold, floating deficiency. Cold and deficiency contend; the pathogen is in skin. Floating means deficient blood and empty network vessels. The thief pathogen is not discharged, on either left or right. Pathogenic qi instead relaxes while upright qi becomes tight; upright qi pulls the pathogen, causing crooked deviation and failed movement. In networks it causes numb skin; in channels heaviness beyond support; in bowels failure to recognize people; in viscera difficulty speaking and saliva from the mouth.
