Judgments for the Six Ren Days at the Gengzi Hour
When any of the six Ren days is born at Gengzi, manifest Geng above Zi conceals injury. A Fire or Earth month still indicates good fortune; without access to it, the person is fierce and merely ordinary. For a Ren day at a Gengzi hour, Blade flourishes and the Body is strong. Ren takes Geng as Inverted Food and Gui as Yang Blade. The hour has manifest Geng and flourishing Gui. If it accesses the monthly influence of Fire and Earth, restraining Geng and Gui, there is great distinction; without such access, there is fierceness and an ordinary station. Access through progression also brings distinction. For a Renzi day at a Gengzi hour, a Chen, Xu, Chou, or Wei month gives mixed-influence Wealth and Office; Si, Shen, You, or Chou gives Seal. Residence in a region of substantial Earth brings distinction in these cases. A Yin month with Metal and Water progression brings close attendance and gold-and-purple honors. A Wu month with western progression brings the sixth rank; Zi progression brings ruin and misfortune. Pure Renzi Yang Blade brings poverty and misfortune. One account says youth is wealthy, hardship follows thirty-five, and late life brings great wealth. Avoid a Xinsi month: a dreadful death; a Xinhai month: great misfortune; a Jiazi month: punishment. For a Renyin day at a Gengzi hour, there is distinction with punishment. A Chen, Xu, Chou, or Wei month gives mixed-influence Wealth and Office; a Si, Shen, or You month gives Seal: all bring distinction. Avoid a Yisi month: penal punishment; a Dingyou month: great destruction and an ancestor's dreadful death; a Yihai month: punishment. For a Renchen day at a Gengzi hour, birth in a Yin or Wu month makes Wealth Star flourish; Chen, Xu, Chou, or Wei makes Office flourish: all are favorable. Pure Chen with Geng and Ren emerging forms Ren Riding the Dragon's Back and brings great distinction. Avoid a Bingchen month: early death with the corpse incomplete; a Dingwei month: ruin of ancestral property and solitude; a Xinchou month: great destruction and punishment. For a Renwu day at a Gengzi hour, hour and day clash; daughters are many and sons few. A Chou or Wei month with southern progression brings wealth and distinction. Other years and months may be understood by examining distinguished destinies. Avoid a Jiawu month: self-punishment and many disputes; a Guiyou month: great destruction, departure from home, and a dreadful death; a Xinhai month: a dreadful death. For a Renshen day at a Gengzi hour, there is poverty and punishment. A Wei month gives mixed-influence Wealth and Office; progression that makes Wealth flourish brings conspicuous distinction, with difficulty first and ease later. Chen combines into excessively strong Water, requiring Fire and Earth progression for a favorable result. Chou or Xu gives Wealth, Office, and Seal and is favorable. Spring and winter are ordinary; autumn and summer bring good fortune and celebration. Avoid a Yisi month: punishment and early death; Dingyou: early death; a Yihai month: solitude and self-punishment. For a Renxu day at a Gengzi hour, life is short. A Chou month with Metal and Fire progression, or Chen and Wei forming Wealth and Office, brings distinction. Yin or You with northwestern progression brings distinction. Shen, Zi, or Chen with southeastern progression brings the highest rank. Avoid Si and You months: solitude and misfortune; a Dinghai month: destructive punishment and a dreadful death; a Xinchou month: punishment. A Ren day at a Gengzi hour: the Owl day has always met Robbing Wealth. With weak progression, guard against harm to wife and children; with strong progression, Wealth and Emolument arrive from Heaven. A Ren day meeting Gengzi: Robbing Wealth and Inverted Food linger. Progression through Companions and Robbing Wealth brings anxious affairs; Wealth and Emolument cannot attain conspicuous standing. Siblings and parents suffer disappointment; wife and children unite if delayed. Wealth and Office progressions bring a flood of blessings, transforming the ancestral estate anew.
Translator's note: All prohibited months and their attached outcomes are retained, including the source's differing early- and late-life accounts. The unusual Owl-day wording in the verse is not silently replaced by a different technical term.
Judgments for the Six Ren Days at the Xinchou Hour
When any of the six Ren days is born at Xinchou, Office Star is below and Seal above. With access to monthly influence and southwestern progression, Office and Seal support the Body, making the person clear and refined. For a Ren day at a Xinchou hour, Office and Seal obtain their positions. Ren takes Ji as Office and Xin as Seal. Chou holds a Metal configuration, and hidden Ji obtains its position. With access to monthly influence, the person is clear and refined, with stable emolument and distinction; without access, the character is eccentric and deceitful. For a Renzi day at a Xinchou hour, a Si, You, or Chou month gives Seal and much parental protection. A Shen month with Fire and Earth progression brings a powerful close attendant's position. Chen, Xu, Chou, or Wei supplies both Office and Seal, abundant resources, broad-mindedness, and a name spreading to the ends of the earth. A Yin, Wu, or Xu month gives Wealth breaking; Emolument and Seal fail to form a configuration, and the result is ordinary. Hai or Shen in the year and month brings distinction. For a Renyin day at a Xinchou hour, a Chou month gives lofty mixed-influence Seal. Chen or Si gives strong Killing without restraint, Wealth and Office with a weak Body, and hardship. For a Renchen day at a Xinchou hour, Chen, Xu, Chou, or Wei gives mixed-influence Wealth, Office, and Seal and is favorable. Spring is ordinary; summer brings Wealth and Emolument; autumn is favorable, with misfortune amid it. In winter the Body flourishes, requiring southern progression for conspicuous achievement. For a Renwu day at a Xinchou hour, Emolument and Horse share one region and bring distinction. Summer is favorable. Autumn supplies Wealth, Office, and Seal together and also brings distinction. For a Renshen day at a Xinchou hour, Yin, Mao, Hai, or Wei in the year and month brings the metropolitan examination degree and censorial service, reaching the second rank, though there are ultimately rises and falls. Chen or Xu brings ample wealth. Shen or You gives natural enjoyment of resources; northern progression also brings distinction. For a Renxu day at a Xinchou hour, a Chen month clashes open Wealth and Office and brings distinction. Chou or Xu is also favorable. Yi, Gui, or Mao in the pillars gives an ordinary result. A six-Ren day at a Xinchou hour: Office and Seal generate one another, making every affair remarkable. In a Wu month, further access to flourishing Metal and Earth certainly brings pure official distinction. A Ren day meeting Xinchou: Wealth, Office, and Seal are within it. To know whether the key opens the storehouse, see Wu and Ji meeting with substantial Fire. Gui, Mao, and Yi reduce blessings; when Dragon and Tiger meet in clash, only the timing is in question before the family's standing changes, with wealth, distinction, imperial favor, and honors.
Translator's note: The source runs the Renzi and Renyin cases together without punctuation; their boundary is made explicit here. The verse's Dragon-and-Tiger clash image is retained without supplying additional branch mechanics.
Judgments for the Six Ren Days at the Renyin Hour
When any of the six Ren days is born at Renyin, Water and Fire meeting are judged as Already Across. Monthly access to Water and Wood gives Wealth, Emolument, and distinction; without such access or rescue, the person is ordinary. For a Ren day at a Renyin hour, Water and Fire are Already Across. Ren uses Bing as Wealth and Jia as Food. At Yin, Bing is born and Jia flourishes, while Ren Water lacks influence. Access to a Water configuration with support brings distinction; without access or rescue, blessings are slight. A Renyin day is vigorous and indicates great wealth; even without access to monthly influence, there is distinction. For a Renzi day at a Renyin hour, pure Zi, with no Wu in year or month to clash and break it, enters the Flying Heaven configuration and brings wealth and distinction. Yin, Mao, Si, Shen, You, Xu, or Hai in the year and month brings distinction. For a Renyin day at a Renyin hour, the configuration is Ren Hastening to Gen. In a place of substantial Earth, clear mountains and beautiful waters, the person wears gold at the waist and purple robes. Si or Hai in the year and month brings a military post of the third rank, substantial wealth, and simple sincerity. A Yin year and Wu month with northern progression brings gold-and-purple honors. A Si month with northwestern progression brings distinction. Chen, Xu, Chou, or Wei is also favorable; pure Yin is especially favorable. One account says middle age brings distinction, with a great ordeal after fifty. For a Renchen day at a Renyin hour, pure Chen forms Ren Riding the Dragon's Back. With no Bing, Ding, Wu, or Ji among the stems, progression through Companions brings great distinction. Pure Yin gives great wealth. A Mao or Xu month with Wood and Metal progression brings distinction at the third or fifth rank. A Wu month is ordinary. For a Renwu day at a Renyin hour, youth brings much illness and hardship. Renwu has Emolument and Horse sharing one region. Chen or Yin in the year and month brings distinction at the second rank. Shen or You gives lofty standing; access to Wood and Fire brings talent and reputation surpassing the age and distinction. A Xu month with southeastern progression brings the highest regional authority. For a Renshen day at a Renyin hour, a Si, You, or Chou month brings a military post of the third rank. A Xinmao or Xu month also brings distinction. Zi or Yin brings great distinction. One account says the person rises from poverty, but it does not last. For a Renxu day at a Renyin hour, a Si month gives the Indirect Office configuration, a name on the gold examination list, and a seat in the Jade Hall. Pure Zi brings the third rank. Yin or Mao with northern progression brings censorial office. Furthermore, any six-Ren day meeting a Renyin hour is named White Great Void: distinction is short-lived, and calamity arises at its height. A six-Ren day meeting the Tiger is like a floating bubble: do not force the pursuit of wealth, distinction, achievement, or fame. With Seal and Office it is a superior configuration; sudden Wealth and Emolument remove anxiety. A Ren day meeting Renyin: Companions meet Food Spirit. Siblings rarely flock together; this is the allotment fixed by the birth hour. With an established configuration, progression through Office places and a strong Body gives emolument and rank surpassing others. With a declining Body, punishment and harm bring invading disasters: an ordinary destiny of clothing and sustenance.
Translator's note: Already Across renders the source's Water-and-Fire image of completion. Gen and White Great Void remain configuration names; the source's Xinmao month label and differing prognoses are retained as supplied.
Judgments for the Six Ren Days at the Guimao Hour
When any of the six Ren days is born at Guimao, it is led back to a place of Death, where its position is hard to stabilize. Robbing Wealth, Killing, and Blade meet injury to Ghost; without support, judge it as an ordinary destiny. For a Ren day at a Guimao hour, the Body dies and Blade is born. Ren takes Gui as Blade, while Mao contains hidden Yi, which injures Office-Ghost. At Mao, Gui is born, Yi flourishes, and Ren dies. Without access to monthly influence that strengthens the Body, rescue, or support, there is early death and low standing. In a Si, You, or Chou month, flourishing Seal without transformation makes the character eccentric, aloof, empty, and deceitful. Access to a flourishing Body, with Metal influence present and Wealth progression, brings distinction. Hurting Office injuring completely, followed by southern progression, also brings distinction. For a Renzi day at a Guimao hour, Zi and Mao punish one another, bringing sorrow and injury to wife and children. Noble people give assistance; wealth is abundant, and the destiny is sincere and substantial. For a Renyin day at a Guimao hour, turning away from Wealth and ruining Emolument brings alternating rise and decline. Zi in the year and month brings distinction. In a Si month, Wealth and Office bring distinction despite punishment. Chen, Xu, Chou, or Wei gives Office and Killing restraining Blade, all favorable. For a Renchen day at a Guimao hour, monthly access to a flourishing Body, with Earth and Metal breaking Blade, followed by Wealth progression brings distinction. For a Renwu day at a Guimao hour, Ren occupies Wu, with Emolument and Horse sharing one region; meeting the Mao hour as well brings conspicuous distinction, glory, and advancement. Si or Wu in the year and month brings military or censorial office. For a Renshen day at a Guimao hour, a Hai, Mao, Wei, or Yin month gives Hurting Office injuring completely, a worthy wife, filial children, and a distinguished destiny in substantial Earth. Pure Chen gives medicine or divination. A Zi month with Water and Wood brings distinction. For a Renxu day at a Guimao hour, Jia, Gui, Wu, or You in the year and month brings civil distinction. Shen is ordinary; Metal and Fire progression brings distinction. Ren and Gui meeting Mao can bring distinction, but punishment, clash, breaking, and harm make it incomplete. If the month meets the Two Virtues and the Body flourishes, calamity changes to good fortune and ease comes naturally. A Ren day meeting Guimao: Ruining Wealth and Turning Away from Emolument pursue one another. Life repeatedly reverses course; affairs are doubtful and delayed. Water reaching the east loses its position. Noble people must come to the rescue; one's own literary blessings are difficult to complete. Ancestral wealth and blood relatives experience gains and losses; the destiny develops late, after initial decline.
Translator's note: Hurting Office injuring completely is retained as the source's technical formulation. The year-and-month lists mix stems and branches in places; no unstated chart components have been supplied.
Judgments for the Six Ren Days at the Jiachen Hour
When any of the six Ren days is born at Jiachen, Ren rides the Dragon's back and sits upon Food Spirit. With support in the pillars and no punishment or harm, this must be a person of glory, wealth, and distinction. A Ren day at a Jiachen hour is also Ren Riding the Dragon's Back. Ren takes Jia as Food Spirit. At Chen, Ren Water joins a configuration, Jia has generating influence, and Food Spirit flourishes. Access to monthly influence brings wealth, distinction, and substantial blessings. In a winter month, Mao progression is unfavorable. For a Renzi day at a Jiachen hour, pure Zi in year and month gives Flying Heaven Emolument and Horse; without breaking, one joins the Six Ministers. Si or You brings great distinction; Hai also brings distinction. For a Renyin day at a Jiachen hour, a Si month gives the Indirect Office configuration: without clash or breaking, distinction is conspicuous. Wu gives Proper Office and distinction. With the Chen-Mao configuration complete and an eastern setting, youth brings examination success, glory, and distinction. For a Renchen day at a Jiachen hour, birth in a Chen month gives Ren Riding the Dragon's Back and great distinction. In a Yin month, if not distinguished, then wealthy. A Xu month gives mixed-influence Wealth and Office, clashing open the Chen storehouse: a lofty destiny. A Zi month cuts roots and damages leaves, making success and failure uncertain. A Wei month with Metal and Water progression brings distinction. For a Renwu day at a Jiachen hour, there is Water or Fire disaster. Yin or Chen in the year and month brings a veteran scholar in the Hanlin Academy, or the post of director of education. Pure Zi gives censorial office. Mao or Yin brings substantial wealth. Chen or Zi brings a scholarly office. For a Renshen day at a Jiachen hour, there is Water or Fire disaster. Chou or Yin in the year and month gives literary conduct and military authority. Pure Zi with Metal and Fire progression brings regional authority. For a Renxu day at a Jiachen hour, a Yin, Shen, or You month with southern progression brings the standing of an imperial relative. Hai, Mao, Wei, Shen, Zi, Chen, Si, or Wu in the year and month is favorable. A Ren day meeting Jiachen: Auspicious Spirit repeats and brings many forms of blessing. When the time arrives, sooner or later achievement and fame are attained; progression reaching Shen and Chen makes a conspicuous official. A Ren day at Jiachen is good: the Azure Dragon entering its temple is lofty, like orchids rising from rough weeds. Water and Wood nourish lush growth. Hour and day clash open a flourishing storehouse, naturally establishing a home. Progression through favorable places lets heroic talent display itself; distinction is conspicuous, though relatives are difficult to rely upon.
Translator's note: The compressed Chen-Mao configuration wording and the eastern condition are translated without inventing missing branches. Six Ministers and the named scholarly offices render the source's historical ranks.
Judgments for the Six Ren Days at the Yisi Hour
When any of the six Ren days is born at Yisi, the Body is at Extinction: there is Wealth, but it cannot be accumulated. Advancing Spirit and hidden Ghost come to restrain one another; emerging Ji brings punishment and becomes the seed of calamity. For a Ren day at a Yisi hour, Wealth flourishes while the Body is at Extinction. Ren uses Bing as Wealth, Wu as Ghost, and Geng as Inverted Food. At Si, Yi Wood is Hurting Office, Bing and Xu are vigorous, Geng Metal has Long Life, and Ren Water's influence is extinguished. If the pillars contain Ji Office, disasters come in a hundred forms, with arrogance toward others and inflated pride. Without monthly access to a flourishing Body or rescue, there is poverty. With support, access to flourishing influence, or progression that strengthens the Body, the result is favorable. For a Renzi day at a Yisi hour, there is distinction, but difficulty concerning wife and children. The character is forceful and does not tolerate affronts. Xu in the year and month gives pure Killing under restraint; Wood and Metal progression brings office at the third rank. For a Renyin day at a Yisi hour, the person is solitary and aloof, punishes the wife, and harms children. As a Buddhist or Daoist religious, there is wealth and distinction. For a Renchen day at a Yisi hour, spring is ordinary, summer brings Wealth, and autumn stability; winter without aid or rescue indicates poverty and hardship. For a Renwu day at a Yisi hour, a Chen or Xu month brings distinction. A Hai month with Metal progression brings the position of chief military commander. For a Renshen day at a Yisi hour, the Body sits on Long Life and the Academy. Wealth advances and retreats; fame and gain drive the person onward. A Wood month with northern progression brings distinction. Chen, Xu, and Chou are all favorable. For a Renxu day at a Yisi hour, Yin in the year and month enters the Day Virtue configuration and brings distinction. Chen, Xu, Chou, or Wei brings distinction. Autumn gives Seal, summer Wealth and Office: both are favorable. Spring gives Hurting Office and winter flourishing influence; according to what emerges in the stems, distinction can also be obtained. A Ren day meeting Yisi: when plans have not yet met their opportunity, pause and consider. A noble person's recommendation makes Wealth and Office flourish, but descendants and the marriage chamber are not of one mind. A Ren day meeting Yisi: Hurting Office turns away from Emolument, offering little to take up. Although Heavenly Yi Nobleman supports it, distinction seems met yet unmet. Plans and undertakings repeatedly reverse; substantial affairs in life become empty. When the time arrives, advancement transforms the household, like drought-stricken seedlings receiving rain.
Translator's note: The prose prints Bing and Xu as vigorous at Si; Xu is retained rather than silently changed to Wu. The text's contradictory-looking phrase distinction met yet unmet is also preserved.
Judgments for the Six Ren Days at the Bingwu Hour
When any of the six Ren days is born at Bingwu, it sits at the Womb in a place where Wealth gathers. Meeting Metal and Water in the month must bring wealth and distinction; abandoning the destiny has always meant following Wealth. For a Ren day at a Bingwu hour, there are the Three Wonders of Emolument and Horse. Ren takes Ji as Office and Bing and Ding as Wealth. Ding and Ji at Wu are Emolument and Horse; Ren Water enters the Womb. With support and access to the monthly influence of Metal and Water, following flourishing Wealth indicates wealth and distinction. Access to Fire influence also brings distinction. For a Renzi day at a Bingwu hour, the person is public-spirited, upright, and steadfast, solitary and aloof yet distinguished. Repeated Zi and Wu in the year and month give Water and Fire Already Across and the highest rank. For a Renyin day at a Bingwu hour, a Yin, Wu, or Xu month gives the Wealth Star configuration, but the weak Body is a drawback; Buddhist or Daoist religious life is suitable and favorable. Autumn birth gives Seal. In winter the Body flourishes; Metal and Fire progression brings gold-and-purple honors. For a Renchen day at a Bingwu hour, a Yin, Wu, or Xu month makes Wealth flourish and brings great distinction. For a Renwu day at a Bingwu hour, a flourishing Body on a winter day is favorable. In summer, Wealth is abundant and the Body weak; the printed Chou-day condition gives a distinguished close attendant. Yin or Wu with Metal and Earth progression allows the lone weak element to follow the strong: abandoning the destiny to follow Wealth gives a lofty destiny. For a Renshen day at a Bingwu hour, access to the monthly influence of Metal and Water brings distinction. Without access, abandoning the destiny to follow Wealth indicates wealth; otherwise there is extreme poverty and low standing. For a Renxu day at a Bingwu hour, a Yin month forms the threefold Wealth combination; abandoning the destiny and following it brings wealth. In autumn the Body has support and there is distinction; winter is also favorable. Born at Bingwu, with a strong Ren day: Emolument and Horse in the hour are exceptional. Progression through favorable places without clash or breaking brings promotion, sooner or later, to the provincial hall. A Ren day meeting Bingwu is also named Emolument and Horse Sharing One Region. Already Across within it reveals literary accomplishment, broad ambition, and oceanic generosity. If punishment, clash, breaking, and harm do not intrude, Wealth and Emolument naturally fill the chests. Progression to flourishing Wealth and Office regions surely makes a chief minister at court.
Translator's note: The source prints Chou day within the Renwu-day case. It is retained as an irregular condition, without being changed to a month. Abandoning the destiny and following Wealth are technical expressions in the supplied text.
Judgments for the Six Ren Days at the Dingwei Hour
When any of the six Ren days is born at Dingwei, the husband transforms and the wife follows: a remarkable configuration. If the configuration accesses Water and Wood, developing wealth and blessings are both fitting. For a Ren day at a Dingwei hour, the husband follows the wife in transformation. Ren combines with Ding, and at Wei they share a Wood configuration, bringing distinction. If the month accesses a Wood configuration and there is support, wealth develops. Without such access, but with assistance, wealth comes through the wife. For a Renzi day at a Dingwei hour, monthly access to Wood influence brings distinction; access to Metal influence brings wealth; access to Fire and Earth influence brings both wealth and distinction. If there is no complete access, Fire and Earth progression is also favorable. For a Renyin day at a Dingwei hour, Ding and Ren transform into Wood. A Hai, Mao, Wei, or Yin month brings distinction. For a Renchen day at a Dingwei hour, birth in a Chen month gives Ren Riding the Dragon's Back and conspicuous distinction. A Yin month gives an esteemed wife and successful children. A threefold Water configuration makes the Body flourish without support, often bringing poverty and harm to the wife. For a Renwu day at a Dingwei hour, spring is ordinary, summer wealthy, autumn distinguished, and winter favorable. Si or Wu in the year and month brings the standing of a prince or marquis. A Wei month with eastern progression brings distinction. A Zi month conceals Proper Seal and the Three Wonders together, giving distinction at the highest rank. For a Renshen day at a Dingwei hour, there is great wealth. Si or Wu in the year and month, or Wu and Ji emerging, gives both wealth and distinction. For a Renxu day at a Dingwei hour, there is Day Virtue: the wife receives honors and children hereditary protection; yet wife and children suffer loss in middle age. A Hai, Zi, Shen, or You month brings distinction. With Si or Wu, if not distinguished, then wealthy. A Chen month brings early death; Monthly Virtue brings distinction. A Ren day meeting Dingwei: Wood transforms into a forest and fears seeing Metal. If the year and month have neither breaking nor harm, wealth, distinction, and blessings must grow deeper. A Ren day with Ding coming at the hour: wife and Wealth combine in secret. When Chou and Xu come as keys to open it, accumulation of money and wealth is vast. With no restraint or clash in year and month, clothing and sustenance are naturally arranged. Marriage and descendants are discordant in early years; middle and later life still enjoy peace.
Translator's note: The opening verse and explanatory prose phrase the husband-and-wife transformation differently; both are retained. The final prose's Chen-month and Monthly-Virtue statements remain separate, without an invented reconciliation.
Judgments for the Six Ren Days at the Wushen Hour
When any of the six Ren days is born at Wushen, Ghost injures the Body at its place of Long Life. A strong Body with restraint gives a lofty destiny; the reverse surely indicates a poor person with scant resources. For a Ren day at a Wushen hour, Water and Earth are turbidly mixed. Ren takes Wu as Ghost and Geng as Seal. At Shen, Geng Metal is vigorous, Ren Water has Long Life, and Wu Earth is Indirect Office. Body and Ghost are both strong, making the person brave and violent. Access to a flourishing month, progression that strengthens the Body, and restraint by Jia Wood bring distinction. Without access, the person is intelligent but not distinguished; further progression that strengthens Ghost makes conspicuous achievement difficult. For a Renzi day at a Wushen hour, Yang Blade carries Killing, and noble people provide assistance. Si or Wu in the year and month brings a powerful close attendant's position. For a Renyin day at a Wushen hour, hour and day clash. The person is solitary; Buddhist or Daoist religious life is favorable. Yin, Wu, or Xu, or pure Chen in the year and month, also brings distinction. For a Renchen day at a Wushen hour, birth in a Xu month brings early examination success and regional authority. Yin, Mao, Chou, Shen, Zi, Wu, and the like in the year and month bring extreme distinction, with a military post at the first rank. For a Renwu day at a Wushen hour, there are Indirect Office and Indirect Seal. A Hai, Mao, Wei, or Yin month brings authority. A Zi or Chou month with Wood and Fire progression brings pure distinction in the Hanlin Academy. A Xu month with southeastern progression brings high rank. For a Renshen day at a Wushen hour, Ren Water has Long Life and dwells at Shen: Killing flourishes and the Body is strong. Further birth in a Hai, Mao, or Wei month restrains Indirect Office and is favorable. For a Renxu day at a Wushen hour, there are setbacks, stagnation, and many obstructions. Pure You brings enormous wealth. Without monthly access to a flourishing Body, progression into flourishing Killing is unfavorable. Restraint by Jia can also make it acceptable. Heavy Wu and Ji Earth indicates blindness or eye illness and an ordinary station. At a Shen hour, Renxu joins the Heavenly Origin; progression to Wealth and Office naturally brings blessings. If Ghost flourishes, the Body declines, and no rescue comes, life is spent in incomplete and exhausting labor. A Ren day is conspicuous at Wushen: branches and stems fully supply flourishing Killing. Gladly meeting Chen and Zi joined together gives precisely the prospect of wearing embroidered robes. Harm, punishment, clash, restraint, and conflict make literary blessings difficult. Progression through favorable places brings an imperial decree sealed with purple clay, wealth and distinction, many wives, and healthy sons.
Translator's note: The passage's claims about illness and family are historical prognoses. The Renxu and Heavenly Origin wording in the verse is kept as supplied, without changing the named day.
Judgments for the Six Ren Days at the Jiyou Hour
When any of the six Ren days is born at Jiyou, manifest Office and hidden Seal provide support. Monthly access to a flourishing Body makes the person purely distinguished, though there is still fear of attachment to flowers and indulgence in wine and sensuality. For a Ren day at a Jiyou hour, generation is found in a place of decline. Ren Water is at Bathing on You; Xin is the generating influence of Seal, and Xin Metal flourishes at You. Ji serves as Office, manifest at You. With access to monthly influence and support, Wealth and Office progression brings distinction; otherwise the result is ordinary. But Peach Blossom occupies the destiny, making a romantic person attached to flowers and wine. For a Renzi day at a Jiyou hour, spring is ordinary, summer favorable, autumn commonplace, and winter flourishing. Birth in a Mao month brings fondness for flowers and wine. For a Renyin day at a Jiyou hour, there is great wealth and distinction. Access to Water influence is favored; Office progression brings distinction. But the person is romantic and fond of flowers and wine. For a Renchen day at a Jiyou hour, the destiny is lofty. With the month matching the day, Ren Riding the Dragon's Back gives great distinction. A Si month with northeastern progression brings distinction. For a Renwu day at a Jiyou hour, Emolument and Horse share one region; difficulty comes first and ease later. A Chou or Yin month with Metal and Water progression brings a military post at the second rank. For a Renshen day at a Jiyou hour, Office and Seal arrive at the door. With no clash or breaking in the configuration, Emolument and Horse are both complete: if not distinguished, then wealthy. Birth in a Xu month, with southeastern progression, brings gold at the waist and purple robes. For a Renxu day at a Jiyou hour, a Hai, Yin, or Zi month with Wealth and Office progression brings exceptional conspicuous distinction. Pure Hai brings civil distinction. A Ren day at a You hour is genuine: meeting a noble person changes calamity into good fortune. If the person does not become an official with a conferred rank, late life brings blessings and a flourishing household. A Ren day meeting Jiyou: Proper Office and Seal are impartial. Flourishing or withering, distinction or low standing depend on conditions, visible from birth itself. Yi, Gui, and Mao clash, break, and restrain; mixed Wealth and Office reduce things by half. Wealth and distinction are not both complete; if the birth hour is mistaken, judgment becomes difficult.
Translator's note: Flowers and wine retain the source's conventional imagery of romantic or sensual indulgence. The compressed final claim about mixed Wealth and Office is not expanded into a new numerical rule.
Judgments for the Six Ren Days at the Gengxu Hour
When any of the six Ren days is born at Gengxu, the Body meets the Wealth storehouse, yet it becomes Ghost. Manifest Geng and hidden Xu punish and restrain one another; throughout life Wealth and Emolument repeatedly gather and scatter. For a Ren day at a Gengxu hour, Owl meets the Wealth storehouse. Ren takes Bing and Ding as Wealth, stored at Xu; Geng is Inverted Food and Wu Indirect Office. Access to the monthly influence of Fire and Wood, with support, brings distinction. Without access, wealth gathers and scatters. For a Renzi day at a Gengxu hour, fame and gain advance and retreat. Geng or Xin in the year and month brings distinction. Chen and Chou give punishment and clash; a You month gives breaking and harm, allowing the Wealth storehouse to be used. Si or Wu makes Wealth and Office flourish: all are favorable. For a Renyin day at a Gengxu hour, the wife is punished and children harmed. Spring birth is ordinary; summer and winter are favorable. A Chen, Chou, or Wei month brings distinction. For a Renchen day at a Gengxu hour, a summer month brings wealth or distinction. Spring is ordinary; autumn stable; winter brings toil and hardship, or Buddhist or Daoist religious life, with Wealth breaking and punishment. For a Renwu day at a Gengxu hour, Emolument and Horse share one region; Ren itself sits on Emolument. Geng and Xin restraining Jia and Yi bring distinction. Chen, Xu, Chou, or Wei in the year and month is favorable. A Shen month gives the Academy and outstanding civil distinction. Hai or Zi makes Water flourish; emerging Ren indicates misfortune. Wu or Xu with Wu Earth emerging also brings misfortune through flourishing Killing. For a Renshen day at a Gengxu hour, access to the monthly influence of Fire and Wood brings wealth and distinction. Without it, progression providing access is also good. Chou or Xu in the year and month brings great distinction. For a Renxu day at a Gengxu hour, there is disadvantage to the wife; the person is harmed by wife or concubines, with repeated success and failure. Pure Xu brings distinction. Yin or Chou brings military office. A Shen month gives Long Life and the Academy: cultivating literature often brings distinction. A Hai month gives Establishing Emolument, with Wealth and Office emerging in the stems; a Mao month gives Hurting Office, with Wealth Star emerging: both bring distinction. A Wei month gives mixed-influence Wealth and Office, with Chou and Xu punishing one another: favorable. Ren and Geng meeting at a Xu birth hour: Wealth and Office are in storage behind a locked gate. Ultimately there is no headway, only many reversals; achievement and fame are floating clouds in the end. A Ren day meeting Gengxu: Inverted Food in branch and stem is difficult to accommodate. Wealth, Office, and Seal are sealed in the storehouse; without a key, they cannot be used. Meeting Chou, You, and Chen makes blessings; further meeting Ding and Ji brings fame. Only fear restraint and harm exceeding punishment and clash: a mixed and ordinary destiny.
Translator's note: The source's hidden Xu, Ren sitting on Emolument, and favorable Chou-Xu punishment statements are preserved rather than adjusted to another technical scheme. The final verse's comparison among harmful conditions remains compressed as in the source.
Judgments for the Six Ren Days at the Xinhai Hour
When any of the six Ren days meets a Xinhai hour, Seal and Emolument follow one another: most remarkable. With no Wealth or Office visible and no clash or breaking, the path to high office opens; this is what the verse tells you. For a Ren day at a Xinhai hour, Day Emolument dwells in the hour.
