Wealth, Officer, Resource, Food, Hurting Officer and Killings

Hurting Officer is said to verify with remarkable precision.
It must injure Officer completely. If the injury is incomplete and Officer arrives flourishing, the disaster is beyond description. Hurting Officer meeting Officer brings a hundred kinds of trouble.
If the month's command occupies Hurting Officer's position and the Four Pillars' arrangement and activities all lie with Hurting Officer, traveling to strong-self territory makes the person truly distinguished.
Such a person has many talents and arts, disdains things and holds themselves high, continually thinking others inferior. Distinguished people fear them, and ordinary people dislike them.
An Officer cycle brings indescribable disaster. Even a favorable influence that resolves it may leave severe illness damaging the body; otherwise official trouble occurs.
If the cycle strips Officer and the Wealth influence is not flourishing, the person may enjoy life in peace.
Examine carefully; the author claims no error.
Another account says Hurting Officer is what self generates, with yang meeting yin or yin meeting yang. It is also called Stealing Qi.
It then says that Resource Seal is wholly injured, not a trace remaining; weak self dislikes Officer but does not fear Seven Killings. The supplied reference here is Resource Seal.
For Jia using Xin as Officer, flourishing Ding Fire can generate Earth Wealth. Officer is especially disliked, and self must also flourish.
If Officer is not wholly injured and appears among the Four Pillars, encountering Officer in years or cycles brings indescribable disaster.
If Officer is wholly injured and no trace remains, flourishing cycles and Resource cycles instead bring distinction.
Even if Officer is completely injured and self flourishes, without any Wealth qi the result is only poverty and scant means.
For Hurting Officer, seeing Wealth is excellent, because Wealth can generate Officer.
When using the Hurting Officer pattern, Officer should not appear in stems, branches, years or cycles. Its appearance is Hurting Officer meeting Officer, with a hundred kinds of trouble.
A Hurting Officer arrangement becomes usable when Wealth is present.
Hurting Officer's harmful influence is worse than Seven Killings injuring self; the author calls its verification remarkable.
Hurting Officer in the year means parents are incomplete; in the month, siblings incomplete; in the day, wife or concubines incomplete; in the hour, no continuation through children.
The general requirement remains complete injury to Officer, then good fortune is possible, and Wealth must be seen. A lighter case brings distant banishment; a heavier one penal execution.
When Hurting Officer engages in battle, life is difficult to preserve.
If the month's command and the Four Pillars' combinations all occupy Hurting Officer positions, travel into strong-self territory makes a distinguished chart.
Such people often rely on talent and disdain others, constantly thinking others inferior. Gentlemen dislike them and petty people fear them.
An Officer cycle without Wealth rescue must bring major disaster, or hidden severe illness damaging the body, or official punishment.
Even if Officer is wholly injured, weak self encountering a Wealth cycle may prosper: this is Hurting Officer meeting Wealth. This weak-self statement is retained alongside the earlier strong-self rules.
Examine carefully; the author claims no error.
Another account says disaster is heavier when Officer exists in the Four Pillars and lighter when it does not.
Generally, with Officer in the Four Pillars, Hurting Officer may be seen and its Wealth selected. Wealth obtaining its ground brings development; traveling to defeated-Wealth territory must bring death. A Wealth stem merely exposed without Wealth within the cycle branch is also unsuitable.
Example: Yihai · Jichou · Dinghai · Gengxu. Ding uses Ren as Officer. Chou and Xu are originally Hurting Officer, but Chou is Metal's treasury and Geng in the hour acts as Wealth. The Shen and You periods went well; the supplied account then says that on entering Metal qi was discharged and the person died.
In general, after injuring Officer, an Officer cycle brings successive disasters; the Grand Year does likewise.
Verse:
Complete injury to Officer is most remarkable;
yet excessive injury may become unsuitable.
This pattern contains a thousand transformations;
seek them with attentive ingenuity.
Verse:
Fire-Earth Hurting Officer should injure completely;
Metal-Water Hurting Officer needs to see Officer.
Wood-Fire seeing Officer has flourishing Officer;
Earth-Metal removes Officer and becomes Officer instead.
Only the Water-Wood Hurting Officer pattern
rejoices when Wealth and Officer both appear.
Verse:
Do not call every Hurting Officer unfavorable;
with control, clothing and Emolument are abundant.
Food Spirit in the stems and combination in the branches
give descendants in sight and pine-like longevity.
Verse:
Meeting Hurting Officer is originally unsuitable;
Wealth present and Officer absent form fortune's foundation.
Its pattern in hour, day or month,
with flourishing-Wealth cycles, surely brings distinction.
Verse:
Complete injury to Officer is most remarkable;
if Hurting Officer is present, disaster follows, as this verse reads.
Relying on self, bullying others and seeking victory
bring still more sorrow through injury to kin.
Verse:
Do not call every Hurting Officer unfavorable;
a Xin day with Renchen contains distinction.
Autumn or winter birth gives refined qi;
birth in the four seasonal-ending months gives abundant Wealth.
Verse:
Bing Fire has many roots and Earth joins it;
it may form in a Shen month or in Qian.
Metal and Water cycles raise reputation and profit;
repeated Fire and Earth make the allotment unstable.
The five-phase comparison verse keeps all six supplied lines; the printed rules and apparently conflicting verses are not harmonized.
Further Sayings on Hurting Officer
If Hurting Officer injures completely, it instead welcomes Officer.
If Hurting Officer is judged through Wealth, misfortune does not come lightly.
If Hurting Officer uses Resource, restraint and Killings are not as good as punishment.
If Hurting Officer is judged through Wealth, combination brings reputation.
Hurting Officer using Wealth does not suit Resource territory.
Hurting Officer meeting Officer is not harmed by Resource cycles.
Mixed-qi Wealth and Officer do not dislike Resource.
Two Wu combining with one Gui indicate remarriage.
Injured wife-Wealth means a child is born but not reared.
Resource Seal and Peer do not dislike Wealth territory.
Resource Seal with many roots and flourishing self must mean poverty.
Injured Resource Seal restrains parents.
Mixed Officer and Killings restrain parents.
Much Wealth and weak self restrain parents.
Identical stem and branch restrain the wife.
Xinmao and Wuyin do not fear many Killings.
In a woman's chart, Peer signifies sisters seeking combination and much deceit.
With Wealth and a Robber, there is no fear of exposure and approaching Killings; this compact clause is retained without supplying an absent explanation.
A Fire destiny is best when the month branch is Fire and Wood exposed in the stems draws Fire forth.
A weak Guiyou pattern meeting Killings must be unfavorable.
Excessive Officer distinction must topple where it flourishes.
For an Earth destiny, do not discuss the Womb; discuss only day and hour, without fear of mixed Officer and Killings. This applies to yang stems, not yin stems.
Zi fears Yin-Wu Fire but not Water. Yin Wood does not fear Metal. Si Metal does not fear Fire. Ji Earth does not fear Wood. Wu Fire does not fear Water. Wei, like Shen Metal, does not fear Water. Ji Earth and Xu Earth do not fear Wood. Mao Wood fears You Metal. Chen Earth fears Yin Wood. A Yi day in the fifth month does not fear Killings. These phase labels, including Si Metal, are preserved as given.
If an original defect exists in the Four Pillars, it must be removed. Without removal, development does not occur.
Food Spirit is what generates my Wealth influence. Jia belongs to Wood and Bing to Fire; this is called Stealing Qi, so why call it Food Spirit? It is because Bing generates Wu Earth, my Wealth: the Wu Wealth receives nourishment from Bing. Hence the name.
A chart carrying it signifies thick Wealth and abundant food, broad generosity, a full body, leisurely sufficiency, children and longevity.
It generally dislikes Officer and Reversed Food, which may injure Food Spirit; it welcomes mutual generation with Wealth.
A single occurrence makes a fortunate person, though the result is ultimately not entirely pure.
Strong self is favored; Resource Seal is disliked for fear of injuring Food Spirit.
Only when the cycle obtains suitable ground can fortune develop. In general it resembles Wealth.
Example: Jiwei · Jisi · Dingwei · Xinchou. Ding sees Ji as Food Spirit. Chou and Si combine into a Metal frame obtained as Wealth, and self is not weak. Therefore office and longevity are both present.
Example: Yisi · Yiyou · Guiyou · Yimao. Three Yi are Food Spirit. Si-You-Chou combine as Resource Seal, while the three Yi also transform into Hurting Officer, as this account says. Gui uses Yi as Food Spirit, but the Metal frame restrains Yi Wood, while the three Yi and flourishing Mao restrain Officer. Thus neither reputation nor profit succeeds. The account names Si-You-Chou even though Chou is not among the four printed pillars.
Verse:
Food Spirit with qi surpasses Wealth and Officer;
first its original stem must be strong and flourishing.
If injury returns to seize its food,
restless toil brings a thousand disasters.
Verse:
Uninjured Food Spirit makes an exalted pattern;
Jia, Bing, Geng and Ren have firmly rooted distinction.
Ding, Ji, Yi and Xin have much fortune and Emolument;
heroes emerge through the gate of sons' birth.
Verse:
A Jia person seeing Bing originally loses qi;
Bing generating Wealth is called Food Spirit.
Broad heart, full body, abundant clothing and Emolument;
meeting Resource Seal signifies lonely poverty.
Verse:
A Wu day in the Shen hour has remarkable Food Spirit;
only autumn and winter give complete fortune and Emolument.
Jia, Bing, Mao and Yin restraining and breaking it
make an apparent encounter no encounter, with lonely sorrow.
Verse:
The longevity source raised by combination is most remarkable;
why fear Seven Killings in year or hour?
Restraining harm and controlling Killings with flourishing stems
makes a person of wealth and distinction.
Verse:
Food Spirit first and Killings afterward
give undiminished clothing and Emolument and ample distinction.
Food Spirit close to Killings instead brings disaster,
with lifelong slow striving in the dusty world.
Direct Wealth
What is Direct Wealth? Its meaning resembles Direct Officer: yin meets yang Wealth, and yang meets yin Wealth. In general it is the wife's Wealth. A woman brings property to serve the husband, but he must be vigorous in spirit before he can enjoy it. If self is weak and dispirited, even abundant wife-Wealth can only be looked at, not enjoyed in the smallest degree.
Thus Wealth must obtain its season, rather than merely be plentiful.
If Wealth is plentiful and the original day master is strong enough to bear it, it should transform into Officer.
With the Heavenly Prime concentrated into one qi, weakness and scant means are difficult to remedy. Strong self is favored, and one should not travel to restraining territory: the restrainers are Officer Ghost.
It is also feared that the birth month's command is precisely self's decline or illness place and the Four Pillars have no parent influences to generate it, yet favor Wealth and show still more Wealth. This is called too much Wealth.
Insufficient strength to bear Wealth brings a hundred troubles. Youth may pass through Rest and Imprisonment with disappointment and repeated difficulties. If middle or late life returns to parent territory or a threefold combination that assists self, sudden development becomes unstoppable.
If youth rides flourishing qi but old age leaves that arrangement, poverty and misery are accompanied by multiplying disputes.
Wealth is the beginning of contention.
Mutually generating Four Pillars, another distinguished pattern, absence of Void, flourishing cycles and a threefold combination generating Wealth all make distinguished charts. Depth of fortune otherwise depends on the strength with which the pattern is entered.
Much Wealth generating Officer requires robust self.
Much Wealth steals qi. If self is soft and a year or cycle further injures Wealth, extraordinary disaster must occur. Punishment together with Seven Killings brings indescribable harm.
Another account says Direct Wealth likes strong self and Resource Seal, but dislikes Officer, Reversed Food, weak self, Peer and Robber of Wealth. Officer is forbidden because it may steal Wealth's qi; Resource is favored because it can generate a weak self.
For Jia using Ji as Direct Wealth, weakness of self brings immediate disaster.
A person born carrying Wealth must come from a wealthy household; otherwise the person is adopted, born of a secondary wife, or clashes with parents.
Strong self without Robber of Wealth or Officer is excellent.
If Officer has suitable ground in the natal chart, cycles favor much Wealth generating Officer.
If Wealth has suitable ground, cycles dislike Officer for fear of its restraining self, particularly when self is weak.
In general, Wealth, direct or indirect, likes Resource Seal and can thereby develop fortune.
Example: Xinchou · Dingyou · Dingsi · Dingwei. The account describes the Ding day as seated on Wealth and the Si-You-Chou Metal frame as flourishing Wealth. It then says Metal obtains Wood's treasury at Wei, which can generate Ding Fire; strong self can therefore bear Wealth. Southeastern cycles suitably bring great wealth. Ding uses Ren as Officer and Geng Metal as Wealth generating Ren Officer. Self entering flourishing territory must prosper. The supplied Metal/Wood-treasury explanation is retained.
Whenever Wealth is used, absence of Officer is excellent.
Example: Gengshen · Yiyou · Bingshen · Bingshen. A Bing day seeing three Shen as Wealth seems excellent. Bing uses Gui as Officer and Xin as Wealth; three Shen and one You make Wealth flourish. But the day is weak: Fire is ill at Shen and dead at You, leaving no qi. Western Metal cycles make self excessively weak. Flourishing Wealth generates Ghost, which damages and restrains self. Unable to bear Wealth, the person is poor.
Example: Yimao · Guiwei · Xinyou · Wuzi. Xin sits on You and the Yi year on Mao, so self and Wealth both flourish. Guiwei Food Spirit and Wuzi Resource Seal further assist it; great wealth and distinction are fitting.
Example: Wuzi · Dingsi · Jiachen · Bingyin. The Jia day is born in the last part of the fourth month. Exposed Bing and Ding Fire generate Wu Earth within the month; the hour returns to Emolument at Yin, making Wealth flourish, while Jia Wood is also strong. Early Wuwu and Jiwei cycles were favorable. Gradually entering Xinyou brought Officer and ill fortune. In Renxu, Ren restrained Bing; amid Hurting Officer and Food Spirit, office was lost, Wealth departed and death struck the family. At fifty-nine the Guihai strong-self cycle brought some ease. At sixty-five, in a Renchen year, the person died.
The initial pattern was Hurting Officer meeting Wealth, with Wu Earth as Wealth. Wuwu and Jiwei strongly generated Earth and made Wealth abundant. Gengshen and Xinyou then brought western Officer, making everything laborious. Though Guihai is Jia Wood's Resource Seal, Fire clashing with Water is also disliked, and Hai contains Ren Water. Ren emerged in the Renchen year; Chen was already present in the cycle and chart, and the text calls death certain. Hurting Officer meeting Wealth dislikes Officer and favors only Wealth. It especially dislikes Ren Water restraining Fire, preventing Fire from generating Jia Wood's Earth Wealth.
Indirect Wealth.
What is Indirect Wealth? Yang meets yang Wealth and yin meets yin Wealth. It is everyone's Wealth. One fears brothers or sisters dividing and taking it, leaving fortune incomplete. Officer may bring a hundred troubles.
Thus Indirect Wealth likes exposure and does not fear concealment; it fears division, seizure and Void. Any of these may prevent office from being established and Wealth from staying.
The classic says: 'Turning from Emolument to pursue Horse, one guards a poor road in misery.'
Weak Wealth must wait for flourishing territory before becoming prosperous.
Abundant Wealth is excellent wherever it goes, provided self's strength is sufficient.
Indirect Wealth makes a person generous and not very miserly; with suitable ground, its effect does not stop there.
Abundant Wealth can also make Officer flourish, because Wealth itself generates Officer. Yet the person is affectionate but often deceitful.
Wealth benefits self and also attracts slander. Flourishing cycles bring both fortune and Emolument. Excessive flourishing is feared: siblings then cause much damage.
With much Wealth, compare its strength with the day stem. If equal, Officer territory can develop Emolument.
If Wealth flourishes but self is weak, Officer territory adds Officer's restraint of self to Wealth's theft of qi. Not only does Emolument fail to develop; disaster must be guarded against.
An original Officer in the Four Pillars permits a favorable reading. But if sibling influences emerge repeatedly, even Officer territory offers little prospect of Emolument.
Hence it is said: 'The essential point is recognizing change and adaptation.'
Direct Officer is like Jia meeting Xin Metal. This opening definition says yin meeting yang is Officer and yang meeting yin is Ghost, with yin-yang pairing completing the way. The supplied terminology is retained.
Generally one should travel to flourishing-Officer territory, determined by the month's command. The month is the governing outline: examine it before everything else.
For Direct Officer, cycles reaching flourishing-Officer territory or a completed frame, avoiding Hurting Officer territory and reaching flourishing Metal Wealth, are places where fortune arises.
Direct Officer is distinguished qi. Punishment, clash, break and harm are strongly forbidden. Officer hidden or exposed repeatedly in year, month and hour stems may make fortune slight. Also examine what other pattern the year and hour enter, and where fortune arises, before deciding good and ill.
Clinging to one approach prevents adaptation: an error of a hair becomes a deviation of a thousand li. The classic calls mastery of change spirit-like.
Too many Direct Officers instead bring no fortune. A chart needs balanced qi; excess and insufficiency are alike. Balance gives ample fortune, partial restraint disaster.
If the month's outline is used as Direct Officer, even one Indirect Officer in year or hour stems or branches makes it mixed. Weigh this carefully.
Another account says it must be obtained in the month's command and likes strong self and Resource Seal.
Jia using Xin as Officer likes Earth generating Officer. Punishment, clash, break, harm, Yang Blade and Seven Killings are most feared and make a poor chart. Killings in the hour stem mix Officer and Killings. Four Pillars containing punishment, clash, break or harm should not yet be treated as distinguished.
Officer comes to restrain self; self going to restrain Officer is not harmful.
One position, or two Officers, need not be harmful, as the compact statement reads.
If Direct Officer is in the month's command but Indirect Officer in the hour stem and branch, it is difficult to call the chart Direct Officer.
For example, Jia uses Xin as Officer. Birth after the principal qi term of the eighth month gives flourishing Metal at You, hence Direct Officer. Even without exposed Xin, Si-You-Chou in the branches can establish Officer outside that eighth-month condition. Strong self is essential, with the hour returning to flourishing Jia Wood.
If Direct Officer emerges in year or hour and the branches also form an Officer pattern, the eighth-month condition is not binding.
Generally Officer needs Resource Seal and strong self to develop. With no Hurting Officer damaging Resource and no weakness of self, the chart is distinguished.
A natal Officer followed by a Hurting Officer cycle is unfavorable. Flourishing Resource and Officer cycles must be awaited for development and attainment of office.
Verse:
Seek Direct Officer within the month;
without break or injury, distinction does not cease.
Jade bridle and golden saddle are true wealth and rank;
two rows of banners lead to the imperial city.
Verse:
Infer proper Officer qi from the month;
without clash or break, it is most remarkable.
Years and cycles assisting in middle life
can make generals, ministers, dukes and marquises.
Verse:
Direct Officer has humane virtue and pure disposition;
literary service and writing establish the person.
Officer and Resource generating each other in years and cycles
place a courtier in Jade Hall and Golden Horse service.
Verse:
Direct Officer generally needs strong self;
weak qi must seek a flourishing cycle direction.
Years and cycles reaching birth and flourishing,
without clash or break, bring glory and prosperity.
Verse:
With Ji stem as master and Officer exposed,
Bing and Ding must appear in the governing outline.
Metal and Water generating each other make a lower pattern;
Fire gathering them brings flourishing Wealth and reputation.
Verse:
A Xin day with Bing exposed and Yin month
transforms within the pattern and develops Wealth's root.
Officer must not appear repeatedly;
clash and punishment cycles fear You and Shen.
Verse:
The eighth month's Officer gains its proper name;
Mao and Ding are greatly feared in the pattern.
If the pillars remove what is disliked,
and cycles do likewise, distinction becomes manifest.
Indirect Officer.
Indirect Officer is like Jia Wood meeting Geng Metal: yang meets yang and yin meets yin, without pairing. The classic compares this to two women unable to share a dwelling and two men unable to coexist.
Indirect Officer is Seven Killings and requires control. The text likens it to petty people: ignorant, violent and unchecked, yet able to labor to support, serve and guard a gentleman. Without correction, warning and a controlling method, they cannot be made obedient and useful. Master Yang says: 'Govern by the proper way and they submit as servants; lose the way and their cunning makes them enemies.' Control must be proper. If lost and the petty gain power, disaster appears immediately.
The classic says: 'Having Indirect Officer is like sleeping while embracing a tiger. Its force can overawe the other beasts, but a slight lapse of guard brings its bite.' With all three punishments, Yang Blade in day and hour, the six harms, and Kuigang clashing, the danger cannot be fully described.
Control in the proper place, followed by cycles of control, makes a greatly distinguished chart.
If those harmful influences gather and cycles reach flourishing Killings, the harm is indescribable.
But one Killings influence controlled by two or three factors, followed again by controlling cycles, instead brings no fortune. Why? The text says that exhausting the method leaves no method, and that even wolf-like fierceness cannot then be controlled. Control must therefore be judged by degree: neither excessive nor insufficient. Careful assessment makes fortune and disaster respond like shadow and echo.
Another account calls it Indirect Officer when controlled and Seven Killings when uncontrolled. Like petty people, they serve when properly governed and become difficult enemies when misgoverned. Everything depends on the way of control.
Do not immediately call this influence unfavorable: many distinguished charts carry it. Three punishments, six harms, or clashes of Yang Blade and Kuigang are not themselves control. Cycles providing control make a distinguished person. If the earlier harmful influences gather and cycles again reach flourishing Killings, disaster is indescribable.
In general, strong self and control are best. Original control permits flourishing-Killings cycles; no original control requires controlling cycles.
Strong self transforms it into Indirect Officer; weak self without control makes it Seven Killings.
Control followed again by controlling cycles leaves Indirect Officer without embers, as the text describes the major cycle.
The month's qi fears clash and Yang Blade. Weak self with strong Killings is difficult to control; strong self with slight Killings borrows Killings as a blade of authority.
Another statement says Seven Killings does not fear punishment or clash. Examine this carefully.
Verse:
Indirect Officer is tiger-like and fears many clashes;
with flourishing cycles and strong self, what can it do?
Weak self and a strong tiger bring disaster;
strong self controlling it gains distinction through balance.
Verse:
Indirect Officer and Indirect Resource are hardest to clarify;
generation above and below brings profit and reputation.
The four treasuries seated on Wealth should face distinction;
with ease one may rise among dukes and ministers.
Verse:
If Wu and Ji meet Officer and Killings,
and Metal and Water additionally enter the frame,
Fire present at birth should encounter Fire;
when Fire retreats, fear Metal and invading Wood.
Verse:
Controlled Indirect Officer transforms into authority;
youth rises readily to the clouds.
Years and cycles reaching strong-self territory
bring great achievement and complete fortune.
Verse:
Do not call every Indirect Officer unfavorable;
with control, clothing and Emolument are abundant.
Food Spirit in the stems and combination in the branches
give descendants everywhere and endless fortune.
Verse:
Yin Gui is injured by repeated Ji;
Wood must bring the Killings star down.
Though reputation and profit may become prominent,
how can one avoid a life that is not long?
Verse:
People of the six Bing days with many Hai and Zi
have Killings restraining Resource and returning to balance.
Eastward travel develops reputation and profit;
western cycles turn affairs to difficulty.
Verse:
Spring Wood without Metal is no marvel;
yet excessive Metal may bring danger instead.
Obtain balanced qi within the pattern,
and fortune, longevity, peace and all affairs are fitting.
Seven Killings is also called Indirect Officer. It likes strong self combining with Killings, control and Yang Blade. It dislikes weak self, Wealth and absence of control.
Strong self with qi makes Indirect Officer; weak self without control makes Seven Killings.
Do not immediately call a chart carrying it unfavorable. Indirect Officer may be better than Direct Officer, and many such people attain great wealth and distinction. Strong self combining with Killings is excellent.
Jia uses Geng as Seven Killings and likes Bing and Ding controlling it. Yi combining with it is called craving combination and forgetting to kill.
Killings should be controlled, but not excessively: extremes reverse into disaster.
Strong self entering strong-self cycles brings fortune.
Weak self entering weak-self territory brings disaster without delay.
Original control in the Four Pillars favors Seven Killings cycles. Without original control, emerging Killings brings harm.
Strong-self territory with Yang Blade gives indescribable distinction. Flourishing Wealth is forbidden because it generates Killings. Its arrival in years and cycles brings many disasters even to strong self, and still more to weak self.
Jiashen, Yiyou, Dingchou, Wuyin, Jimao, Xinwei and Guiwei are seven days said to carry Killings at birth, giving impatience, cleverness, ingenuity and intelligence.
Many Killings influences signify violence, early death and poverty. Their appearance in the month is heavier and in the hour lighter. Why? Day Killings should appear in only one place; repetition in year and hour makes excessive Killings harmful. Controlling territory, strong self and control are needed to turn it into authority. Clash and Yang Blade are especially feared as gravely unfavorable here.
Hour Killings should occupy one place and requires strong self. Control in year, month and hour brings fortune, and flourishing-Killings cycles or a threefold cycle combination obtaining ground can develop it. Without control, controlling cycles bring fortune.
Flourishing-Killings cycles without control cause disaster.
Hour Seven Killings, however, does not fear Yang Blade or clash. This differs from the preceding general statement and is retained.
Example: Xinchou · Yiwei · Yimao · Bingzi. Self is strong, born in the sixth month, with Xinchou exposed in the year as Seven Killings. Bingzi combines with Xinchou's Killings, giving distinction and authority.
Example: Jiawu · Bingyin · Gengzi · Bingzi. Self is weak, a Fire frame appears, Bingyin of the month is Seven Killings and Bingzi appears again in the hour. Fire restrains Geng Metal, which dies at Zi. Weak self, flourishing Killings and no control fittingly produce illness and poverty.
Example: Dingsi · Wushen · Renzi · Wushen. Self is strong, and two Wu serve as Seven Killings, led back to Si. Ding combines with Ren and Wu with Gui. Metal has Long Life at Si, while Wu's Emolument is at Si. Ren and Wu both flourish, hence distinction.
Too Many Officer Stars
For Ren or Gui births whose Four Pillars contain Chen, Xu, Chou, Wei, Si and Wu, Officer and Killings may be numerous while hidden, although neither appears in the heavenly stems. The text calls original presence in the Four Pillars favorable, without clearly specifying the object of that clause. Without control, Wood cycles or a threefold Wood frame are needed and are favorable.
Numerous Officers generally become mixed. Remove enough to make them clear, and fortune can develop.
Many Officers followed by Officer cycles do not accomplish the purpose.
Mixed Officer and Killings Require Control
Officer should be pure, not mixed.
Suppose Jia Wood uses Xin Metal as Officer, the year is Xin and the month You, and the hour also has what the supplied wording calls a dead Officer. Multiplicity does no harm when it is entirely of one kind. If Metal or Gengshen appears, the text calls it mixed as Killings, injuring self. Fire territory is needed to control it and develop fortune. Infer other cases in the same way. The unusual dead-Officer and Metal wording is not silently replaced with other characters.
Resource Seal
What is Resource? What generates me is Resource Seal. The classic says: 'Officer without Resource is not true Officer; Resource without Officer instead forms fortune.' Why? A person receives things that assist, generate and nourish self, allowing enjoyment of what is already formed. This is excellent, giving intelligence, foresight and abundance.
Resource Seal fears Wealth and makes a person close the purse. Officer distinction in the Four Pillars and cycles instead brings fortune, because Officer Ghost generates self. Wealth alone is feared, for it can injure Resource.
The excellence of Resource often means parental protection, inheritance of the father's property and peaceful enjoyment of ready-made means. When comparing two or three charts, prefer the one with more Resource Seal.
It also signifies few illnesses throughout life and an ability to eat and drink.
Much flourishing Wealth may instead cause prolonged obstruction.
Although Officer Ghost is favored, if numerous Officers or Ghosts establish another pattern, do not discuss the chart solely as Resource.
Examples are Jia or Yi days born in Hai or Zi months; Bing or Ding in Yin or Mao; Wu or Ji in Si or Wu; Geng or Xin in Chen, Xu, Chou or Wei; and Ren or Gui in Shen or You. Infer the rest by kind. Resource's Death and Extinction cycles are most feared. If cycles reach those states and something further steals its qi, the text calls descent to the Yellow Springs certain.
Resource Seal generates self and is also called Generating Qi. Yang meeting yin or yin meeting yang is Direct Resource; yang meeting yang or yin meeting yin is Indirect Resource. Officer generating Resource is favored; flourishing Wealth breaking Resource is forbidden.
Jia born in Hai or Zi uses Water as Resource. It dislikes Fire as Hurting Officer and Earth breaking Resource. Birth and Flourishing territory is wanted, Death and Extinction feared. Such cycles, or something injuring it, bring danger.
Resource people are intelligent and thoughtful, have few illnesses, eat well, enjoy abundance and ready-made Wealth and Emolument. When comparing two or three charts, select the one with more Resource.
Flourishing Wealth is most forbidden and must create obstruction.
Many Officers or Ghosts, or entry into another pattern, again prevent judging solely through Resource.
Its appearance in month and hour is generally excellent, the month most important.
Generating qi in the month's qi gives parental assistance; beneath the year, ancestral assistance; in the hour, assistance from descendants, enduring lifespan and leisurely old age.
Resource should carry Officer, called Officer and Resource both complete, a distinguished chart. Even Officer already established with parental assistance gives ample fortune. Officer cycles develop it; Resource cycles may also do so.
If Officer's use is not prominent, Resource is excellent. Wealth territory in natal pillars, years or cycles is most feared because it injures Resource.
Injured Resource signifies a broken household, leaving the ancestral home or marrying into the wife's household. With Death or Extinction territory as well, either demotion and loss of office or shortened life must follow.
Example: Wuxu · Gengshen · Guiyou · Gengshen. The Gui day is born after the principal qi term of the seventh month. Month and hour are Gengshen, and the account says self sits on Metal's treasury, hence Resource. Wu Officer exposed in the year completes Officer and Resource, making an extremely distinguished chart.
Example: Guihai · Guihai · Jiayin · Jiazi. Gui serves as Resource and flourishes, but no Wealth assists, so fortune is not ample.
Example: Jiayin · Gengwu · Wuxu · Renzi. Wu uses Ding as Resource; the Yin-Wu-Xu Fire frame is favorable. But flourishing Renzi Water in the hour lets Wealth clash with Resource, so the person loses sight. The supplied explanation says Generating Qi is Bing-Ding Fire and belongs to Wood; that final Wood wording is retained.
Example: Jimao · Dingmao · Bingchen · Renchen. Mao is Resource and Gui Officer; the year is Mao and the day Chen, completing Officer and Resource and giving a pure, important post in youth. At forty-two or forty-three, the Guihai cycle is not harmful. In a Gengshen year, Water Seven Killings has birth at Shen and Gengshen breaks Resource, making it unfavorable.

Resource Seal in the month welcomes Officer;
Officer cycles make fortune pure.
Death and Extinction cycles harm self;
subsequent Wealth cycles accomplish nothing.

Resource and Officer cycles have pure qi;
repeated Indirect Officer gives renewed vitality.
Death, Extinction and Wealth territory,
without rescue, instead put one beneath the springs.

Unimpaired Resource enjoys a field of fortune;
office and inherited protection give fields and gardens.
Imperial edicts reach the family, Wealth and grain overflow;
daily expenses consume ten thousand coins.

Unimpaired Resource relies on ancestors;
bright property glorifies the family's reputation.
Annual cycles meeting flourishing Officer
bring both wealth and rank, a step to the Moon Palace.
Verse:
The month generating the day master welcomes Officer;
Officer cycles make Emolument pure.
Dignified appearance and much property
place a minister in the halls of state.
Verse:
Repeated Generating Qi without Officer
should be read as pure, elevated skill and artistry.
Without Officer or Killings there is no rank or Emolument;
mere skill and artistry remain lonely and poor.
Verse:
Repeated Resource makes a pure, remarkable pattern;
examine stems and branches still more carefully.
Salty Pool in branches and combination in stems
make a wayward, wandering child who ruins the household.
Verse:
Resource in stems and branches likes natural accord;
achievement, great wealth and Emolument rise high.
If Wealth cycles come to injure Resource,
retire from office to escape disaster and fault.
Verse:
Repeated Resource enjoys what is already made;
only Food Spirit's hidden mutual punishment is feared.
If one does not enter the springs in youth,
lonely exile and longstanding illness remain.
Verse:
Bing and Ding in a Mao month with many Officers and Killings,
and rootless Four Pillars, fear Water territory.
Wet Wood cannot generate flameless Fire;
self flourishes only in the south.
Verse:
Resource does not suit excessively strong self;
even without trouble, the result is ordinary.
Only a natal chart with many Officers and Killings
gains reputation and serves as a structural beam.
Verse:
Ren and Gui meeting Shen dislike Fire breaking it;
Earth in the pattern makes distinction known.
Northern Water cycles are all favorable;
Yin clashing is altogether unsuitable.
Verse:
Wood meeting Ren and Gui Water floats adrift;
a rootless day master cannot pass autumn.
Years and cycles of flourishing Wealth
turn ill fortune good and bring encounters with rulers.
Verse:
Do not call craving Wealth and damaging Resource simply unfavorable;
examine the subtle principle until understood.
A cycle removing Wealth again brings fortune;
a further Wealth cycle ends the lifespan.
Verse:
Resource traveling through Death and Extinction
fears Wealth and also Void.
Such encounters must signify many disasters:
water, fire, punishment and injury through self-hanging.
Verse:
Resource with repeated Peers in exposed stems
must injure self if cycles lend further help.
Do not say this pattern has no subtle excellence:
Wealth territory gives genuine fortune and Emolument.
Reversed Food clashes with the Wealth influence and is also called the Swallowing Harmful Influence. It is strongly forbidden when using Wealth and also when using Food Spirit.
It is like Jia meeting Ren. Jia sees Bing as Food Spirit, able to generate Earth Wealth. But Ren restrains Bing Fire, preventing it from generating Jia Wood's Earth Wealth. Thus Jia using Food Spirit strongly dislikes it.
A chart carrying these two is said to have shallow fortune and a short life.
If Geng appears as Seven Killings and Bing-Ding Fire controls it, Water is feared because it reverses the situation into disaster. Such a chart resembles elders controlling one's person without freedom: hesitation, regret and idleness, beginnings without completion, repeatedly achieved and lost income, an uneven appearance, short stature, timidity, anxiety and failure in affairs.
Example: Dingwei · Dingwei · Jihai · Dingmao. Ji on Hai is weak there, while Hai-Mao-Wei Wood restrains self. Three Ding emerge in year, month and hour to feed Ji. Southern cycles in youth rely on Fire generating Earth and keep self flourishing. Entering Yisi brings Ji's Seven Killings and draws out Hai-Mao-Wei Wood; the annual-cycle account names Guihai, when the person dies. This is not merely the harm of Reversed Food and Seven Killings: the Guihai year has the same meaning as generating Killings and damaging Resource.
Example: Jiaxu · Bingyin · Jiaxu · Renshen. Jia sees Bing as Food Spirit and is born in the first month, when Jia Wood flourishes. Self and Food Spirit both flourish, originally a distinguished chart. But Renshen in the hour is unsuitable: Ren Water injures Bing Fire and Shen Metal clashes with Yin Wood. Shen also contains Geng Seven Killings, so neither profit nor reputation succeeds. In the Jisi cycle, where Metal is generated, a Gengzi year appears. Geng is Seven Killings, and Zi Water appears as well; the person meets an unnatural death.
